A year after Steven Tatar acquired the rights to sell Ohio Knitting Mills' 5,000-plus sample archive of never-worn 1940s to '70s sweaters and knitwear, he opened Ohio Knitting Mills, a stylish storefront in Brooklyn's Boerum Hill neighborhood. At the boutique, Steven offers vintage-loving shoppers the chance to own fun, one-of-a-kind knitwear that is in pristine condition. "During its heyday, Ohio Knitting Mills' knitwear was sold under such labels as Sacks, Pendleton, and Van Heusen. The sweaters and clothing the mill made represent true American artistic expression as well as industrial craftsmanship," says Steven. "When older shoppers see them, they're nostalgic. The younger crowd just thinks they're fabulous, fresh, and unique."
